Digital & AI Technology Intern

About the Role

Ecolab is seeking Digital & AI Technology Interns for its summer 2027 Digital & AI Technology Internship program. The program offers insights from leaders, challenging projects, growth opportunities, networking, and immersion in an innovative environment. This internship focuses on delivering value through digital technologies, working with leaders in water safety and conservation to innovate and apply data-driven and digital solutions. Interns will translate business needs into new products, services, and applications (Business Analyst role) or work on software applications (Software Engineering role).

What You Will Do

• Develop and execute software engineering plans.
• Manage software engineering schedules and resource allocations.
• Utilize software engineering processes, practices, and operations for high-quality development.
• Engage in in-depth analysis, review, and design of software, including technical review and analysis of source code.
• Think strategically and balance short-term needs with longer-term business priorities.
• Work with technical and business partners to elicit high-level requirements and capture business needs.
• Clearly articulate and document business requirements.
• Engage in user testing, pilot testing, and project launches.
• Monitor and track success metrics for projects and platforms.
• Incorporate usability and user interface needs when designing solutions.

Position Details

• 11-week paid internship program, starting on Tuesday, June 1, 2027.
• Positions located in St. Paul, MN; Eagan, MN; or Naperville, IL.
• Opportunity for a hybrid work environment.
• Compensation: $23 - $25 / hour.

Minimum Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology.
• Anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or May/June 2028.
• Immigration sponsorship is not available.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems (IS), Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), Software Engineering or related field.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to translate needs to Application Development teams.
• Basic knowledge in generating process documentation.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
• Experience with one or more of the following operating systems: Linux/Unix, Mac OS X, iOS, or Android.
• Effective oral communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team while handling multiple tasks or projects.
