Associate Account Manager
Sun IP
About Sun IP
Sun IP is a technology-enabled provider of global intellectual property services, supporting law firms and corporate IP teams across filings, translations, renewals, and IP support services. We deliver high-quality patent and trademark solutions through a combination of subject matter expertise, service excellence, and a secure, cloud-based platform. We are expanding our go-to-market organization to support continued growth across patent and trademark renewals, while building a foundation for broader service offerings including filings, translations, and recordals.
Position Summary
We are seeking an Associate Account Manager to join our Filing & Translations desk. The desk runs on a pod model: each Associate Account Manager is paired one-to-one with a Senior Account Manager and supports the full book of accounts they manage together. The Senior Account Manager owns the client relationship and the commercial conversations. The Associate Account Manager owns responsiveness, follow-through, and the day-to-day service details. The pod operates as one unit, managing the account in unison, so every client feels they have a team inside Sun IP dedicated to their success. This role requires sharp written communication, strong organization, and the judgment to know what to answer, what to escalate, and what to flag before it becomes a problem. The Associate Account Manager reports directly to the Head of the Filing & Translations desk, is paired with a Senior Account Manager, and coordinates daily with Client Care, operations, and the IP Solutions business development team. This is a foundational role on the Filing & Translations desk and a defined career path toward account ownership. Sun IP is committed to internal mobility, with opportunities for high performers to grow into expanded roles across the broader Revenue Organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Account Coverage and Response
- Own the pod's shared inbox: triage every client message, respond directly where possible, route the rest, and keep response times fast.
- Manage the Senior Account Manager's client correspondence so the pod is quick on every response.
- Run client requests end to end, including quotes, order status, invoice questions, reports, and document requests, coordinating with operations and Client Care so nothing stalls.
- Client Relationships and Account Expansion
- Help open doors to additional stakeholders across each client organization, including paralegals, docketing teams, and finance contacts, building relationships beyond the primary contact.
- Prepare briefs, agendas, and follow-ups for client meetings and account reviews.
- Travel with the Senior Account Manager to client offices and industry events to present a unified team behind every account.
- Cross-Sell Coordination
- Flag renewals and additional service opportunities surfaced in day-to-day account activity.
- Help schedule and prepare introductions to the IP Solutions business development team and support a smooth handoff.
- Account Administration and CRM Hygiene
- Maintain accurate contacts, activity logging, and engagement documentation in Salesforce.
- Support onboarding, rate schedule updates, portal access, and recurring reporting.
- Participate in regular account reviews and desk planning discussions.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor's degree.
- Salesforce, Front, Outreach, LeadIQ, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator (proficiency with, or the aptitude to quickly learn).
Qualifications
- 0 to 3 years of client-facing experience in professional services, or junior IP experience such as docketing, paralegal, or IP administration work.
- Experience in intellectual property services is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities without dropping threads, in work, internship, or academic settings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized and detail-driven, comfortable managing multiple accounts in parallel.
- Service mindset with a bias for fast, accurate response.
- Judgment and discretion with confidential client information.
- Coachability and growth mindset.
- Maintain awareness of IP industry trends and market developments.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of working time for client visits, conferences, and industry events.
- Occasional travel for internal meetings and team collaboration.
