The Center focuses on developing new technologies and conducting research to advance human health using AI / machine learning approaches in synthetic biology, systems biology, genetics, genomics, and other ‘omics.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting-edge research in synthetic genomics and related fields.
- Develop new technologies to improve human health.
- Collaborate broadly across the institution and the research environment at NYU.
- Hold an academic appointment in a relevant NYU Grossman School of Medicine Department.
- Participate in one or more graduate programs.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong AI-driven research focus on synthetic and systems biology.
- Expertise in genome engineering, genome manipulating tools (e.g., CRISPR, zinc fingers).
- Experience with design and application of large libraries.
- Proficiency in cutting-edge mass spectrometry.
- Experience in tissue engineering.
- Expertise in synthetic biology-based imaging tools.
- Knowledge of nucleic acid delivery modalities (viral or non-viral platforms).
- Experience with synbio-related omics / bioinformatic advances.
- Must be AI/ML innovators or have an AI-driven research program.
Qualifications
- PhD and /or MD.
The SynBioMed Center is located in Long Island City, adjacent to programs in Biomedical Engineering, Tech4Health, and Neuroscience.
Researchers at the SynBioMed Center can work with ISG staff and NYU’s Technology Opportunities and Ventures Office (TOV) to license technologies and/or create startup ventures.
Faculty will have full access to the Institute’s resources and shared space at both Long Island City and main campuses.
Access to state-of-the-art genomics, proteomics, robotics, and microscopy facilities.
Collaborations with the ‘omics community in NYC, NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and other related entities are encouraged.
