Software Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer to manage, optimize, and scale our cloud infrastructure supporting high-traffic digital news platforms, APIs, internal applications, and video delivery systems. The role involves managing AWS infrastructure, improving production reliability, automating operational tasks, strengthening security, troubleshooting performance issues, and optimizing cloud costs. The ideal candidate should be comfortable taking end-to-end ownership of infrastructure and working closely with development teams.

Key Responsibilities

• AWS Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize EC2, S3, RDS/Aurora, CloudFront, Application Load Balancers, Route 53, VPC, IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, and related AWS services.
• Production Operations: Monitor infrastructure health, troubleshoot application and server issues, investigate outages, and improve system availability and recovery.
• Linux & Web Servers: Administer Ubuntu/Linux environments, Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM, reverse proxies, SSL/TLS certificates, and server-level performance configurations.
• CI/CD & Automation: Build and maintain deployment pipelines, automate repetitive operational tasks, and improve release reliability using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Infrastructure as Code: Work with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or equivalent tools to make infrastructure deployments consistent and repeatable.
• Cloud Security: Implement least-privilege IAM, security group policies, WAF rules, secure origin access, certificate management, logging, and vulnerability mitigation.
• Performance & Scalability: Troubleshoot traffic spikes, database and application bottlenecks, CDN behavior, caching issues, and network-related performance problems.
• Cost Optimization: Analyze AWS usage and billing, identify unnecessary expenditure, optimize compute and database resources, evaluate commitment plans, and implement cost-saving measures.
• Monitoring & Incident Response: Set up actionable alerts, dashboards, centralized logs, health checks, and incident documentation using CloudWatch and other relevant tools.
• Collaboration: Work with developers to improve application deployments, environment management, secrets handling, reliability, and production readiness.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and production workloads.
• Good understanding of Linux administration, shell scripting, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, load balancing, and networking.
• Experience with EC2, S3, CloudFront, ALB, Route 53, VPC, IAM, RDS, and CloudWatch.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Proficiency in Bash or Python scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
• Practical knowledge of Terraform, CloudFormation, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience troubleshooting production incidents, analyzing logs, and identifying root causes.
• Understanding of cloud security, backups, disaster recovery, and high availability.
• Ability to independently investigate issues, document solutions, and take ownership of assigned systems.

Good to Have

• Docker and containerization; Kubernetes experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Experience with AWS WAF, DDoS mitigation, CDN optimization, and high-traffic web applications.
• Experience optimizing AWS costs and analyzing billing reports.
• Knowledge of Redis/Valkey, MySQL/Aurora, PostgreSQL, and database connectivity issues.
• Experience with media streaming, video delivery, caching, or large-scale content platforms.
