About the Role

Balcony Crops is an urban gardening company focused on helping people grow healthy plants and crops in limited spaces such as balconies, terraces, and small yards. We promote sustainable, space-efficient cultivation methods that make gardening accessible in dense city environments. Balcony Crops provides design, setup, and maintenance services to ensure that clients enjoy productive and visually appealing green spaces. Team members work closely with customers who value fresh produce, eco-friendly practices, and creative approaches to city gardening.

This is a full-time, on-site Gardener role based in Chennai.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining balcony and terrace gardens, including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and seasonal care for ornamental and edible plants.
• Monitoring soil health.
• Managing irrigation systems.
• Applying organic fertilizers and pest controls.
• Ensuring each garden remains healthy and aesthetically pleasing.
• Supporting garden installations.
• Assisting with layout and plant selection.
• Providing basic guidance to clients on caring for their plants.
• Keeping tools and work areas organized.
• Following safety and hygiene standards.
• Coordinating with the team to meet project timelines.

Qualifications

• Practical skills in Gardening and Landscape Maintenance.
• Skills in Landscaping and Garden Design to create efficient, attractive balcony and terrace layouts.
• Knowledge of Irrigation systems and basic water management for small-space gardens.
• Familiarity with urban or container gardening, plant care for local climate conditions, and basic pest and disease management.
• Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and working outdoors.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.
• Prior experience in professional gardening, landscaping, or horticulture is preferred.
• Relevant certifications or training in horticulture or related fields are an advantage.
