Sales Specialist

About the Role

The Sales Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Birmingham, AL, focusing on engaging prospective and existing customers to identify their insurance and financial protection needs and recommending suitable State Farm products and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Make outbound calls and respond to inbound inquiries.
• Conduct in-person consultations.
• Prepare quotes and process new policies and policy changes.
• Follow up on leads.
• Maintain accurate records in agency systems.
• Support retention efforts through proactive customer outreach and problem resolution.
• Collaborate with the agency team.
• Participate in training and coaching sessions.
• Contribute to local marketing and referral-building activities.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Ability to work on-site full time in Birmingham, AL and maintain a consistent, reliable schedule.
• Comfort using CRM or agency management software, email, and basic office technology.
• Willingness to obtain applicable insurance licenses as required by state regulations.

Qualifications

• Strong Communication skills, including clear verbal communication, active listening, and professional written correspondence.
• Customer Service skills to build rapport, understand customer needs, and provide responsive, solutions-focused support.
• Sales skills to prospect, qualify leads, present product options, overcome objections, and close new business.
• Training and Sales Management-related abilities, such as learning and applying sales processes, following compliance guidelines, and supporting team goals.
• Goal-oriented mindset with motivation to meet and exceed sales and customer satisfaction targets.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary education or prior insurance/financial services experience is a plus.
