AST SpaceMobile Hiring DevOps Intern

About the Role

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices. The company is looking to hire a DevOps Intern to support DevOps activities with strong full-stack development capability for cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipeline management, automation, and containerization technologies. This role is within the Integration and Automation Division.

Key Responsibilities

• Support DevOps activities with strong full-stack development capability.
• Support cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipeline management, automation, and containerization technologies.
• Responsible for automation activities and internal tooling development across cross-functional teams (FSW, GSW, DSS, and Simulation).
• Manage and maintain Windows Server (2016, 2019) and Windows 11 environments.
• Support Linux-based systems including Ubuntu 22.04 and RHEL.
• Work extensively with AWS Cloud Infrastructure, managing services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Load Balancers (ALB/NLB), VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, and SNS.
• Manage AWS ECS, ECR, EKS, and Lambda for containerized and orchestration environments.
• Work with IAM, CloudFront, Systems Manager, Secrets Manager, KMS, GuardDuty, and CloudTrail.
• Use Terraform and CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code solutions.
• Work with cloud management platforms such as Scalr for workflow governance.
• Design, set up, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Azure DevOps.
• Implement and maintain configuration management practices.
• Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform and CloudFormation in AWS.
• Write and maintain automation scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Monitor system and application performance using Grafana and CloudWatch, building and maintaining alerts and dashboards.
• Work with Docker for containerization, including authoring Docker files and managing containerized environments.
• Deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes (EKS) for container orchestration.
• Design and build internal tools and dashboards using HTML, CSS, and React JS on the front end.
• Develop backend services and APIs in Python, integrating with PostgreSQL databases.
• Apply AI-assisted and vibe coding practices to accelerate prototyping and development of internal tooling.

• AWS Cloud Services: EC2, S3, RDS, Load Balancers, VPC, Route 53, EKS, ECS.
• Scripting Languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell.
• Version Control & CI/CD: Git, GitLab, Azure DevOps.
• Infrastructure Automation: Terraform, CloudFormation, Scalr.
• Full-Stack Development: HTML, CSS, React JS, Python-based backends.
• Databases: PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, and experience using both relational and non-relational databases.
• Monitoring Tools: Grafana.
• Containerization: Docker.
• Orchestration: Kubernetes (EKS).
• Operating Systems: Windows Server (2016, 2019), Windows 11, Ubuntu 22.04, RHEL.
• Follows Agile process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in technology or related field required.
• Master's in computer science or related field preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
