About Storytime
Storytime is building a platform connecting local businesses and creators, enabling businesses to launch, manage, and measure influencer campaigns while helping creators discover opportunities. The company is an early-stage, fast-growing company with a custom technology platform.
Role Overview
This is a hands-on software engineering role for an early-career engineer focused on building production software close to customers and business outcomes. The engineer will spend most of their time writing code, shipping features, and improving the platform. They will also collaborate with founders and various internal teams to identify problems, understand user behavior, and contribute to product development decisions. This role involves investigating opportunities, proposing solutions, building, releasing, and measuring the impact of features.
What You'll Work On
- Improving brand onboarding, campaign creation, and creator collaborations.
- Enhancing creator discovery, matching, participation, and content approval.
- Developing internal tools for partnerships, community, support, and campaign teams.
- Building dashboards and reports for brand campaign performance.
- Creating product experiments to improve activation, conversion, engagement, and retention.
- Automating workflows across creator outreach, campaign operations, and customer support.
- Prototyping and developing practical AI-powered features.
- Improving application performance, reliability, testing, and observability.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and ship full-stack features across customer-facing and internal applications.
- Work across frontend interfaces, backend services, APIs, and relational data.
- Partner with users and nontechnical teams to translate operational pain points into software solutions.
- Assist in scoping projects, identifying tradeoffs, and breaking down larger ideas into shippable releases.
- Instrument features and utilize product data to understand user behavior and friction points.
- Own projects from discovery through implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration.
- Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
- Investigate and resolve bugs and production issues by improving underlying systems.
- Contribute ideas regarding both the product and engineering team operations.
Our Technology
- JavaScript and TypeScript

Ideal Candidate
This role is suited for a graduating student, recent graduate, or early-career engineer with up to approximately two years of professional experience. A strong fit would include candidates who:
- Have built and deployed a meaningful software project (internship, startup, coursework, hackathon, personal project).
- Are comfortable building web applications with JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Understand the fundamentals of React, APIs, databases, and modern web development.
- Enjoy thinking about the "why" behind a feature, not just the "how."
- Are curious about users and willing to engage with them directly.
- Can transform ambiguous problems into practical first versions.
- Value product quality while understanding the importance of speed and iteration.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical teammates.
- Take ownership and see work through to completion.
- Are excited to work closely with a small team in the SoHo office.
- Have an interest in startups, local businesses, social media, marketplaces, or the creator economy.
A computer science or engineering degree is welcome but not required if projects and experience demonstrate necessary skills. Previous full-time software engineering employment is also not required.
