About the Role

Join the Parks and Recreation Department team as a Program Coordinator to enhance the quality of life for the residents of San Carlos by providing recreational opportunities for all. The work schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-2:00 pm, but may vary as needed. Occasional weeknight and weekend hours may be required for special events.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and distribute marketing materials and update the monthly newsletter to showcase Adult Community Center programs.
• Support kitchen preparation and coordinate meal deliveries for the Curbside Lunch Program.
• Process registrations and manage activities using ActiveNet registration software.
• Recruit and coordinate volunteers.
• Manage the Caring Cupboard weekly grocery program.
• Assist in planning and organizing special events, classes, and workshops.
• Assist with daily facility operations and rentals for City-owned facilities.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school.
• 500 hours experience as either a Recreation Leader II at the City of San Carlos or 500 hours at an equivalent classification in another municipality or related agency.
• Required Skills:
• Speak clearly and understandably.
• Ability and dexterity to run, jump, and climb.
• Lift and move equipment, such as tables and chairs.
• Hear alarms, bells, voices, and telephones.
• Ability to reach.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Possession of an appropriate California driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $27.20 - $33.07 per hour
• Effective 1/11/2027, hourly rate increases by 3% ($28.19 - $34.07)
• PERS Retirement: 2% @ 55 for "classic members" or 2% @ 62 for "new members" as defined by CalPERS.
