Z Engineering System Test Back-End Developer

About the Role

The Systems Assurance Kernel (SAK) team operates at the forefront of technology, typically two years ahead of product announcements. Our tooling supports the entire lifecycle from simulation through hardware bring-up to customer delivery, playing a crucial role in every phase of design, test, and delivery.

Your Role And Responsibilities

• Create/write architecture verification software for IBM Z systems within the System Assurance Kernel (SAK) team.
• Design, Code, Test, and Debug.
• Collaborate with teams of development & test engineers, programmers, and technicians.
• The SAK team utilizes a proven methodology with pseudo-random test approaches.
• The SAK test platform is used to verify machines in pre-silicon processor simulation and all phases of post-silicon testing, including initial bring-up, regression & functional verification, manufacturing builds, and field installs.
• Source code is stored in a Github repository and managed in the Visual Studio Code development platform.
• In-house tools and processes facilitate code compiles and library sessions.
• This role could involve working within the OS, Processor (CP), or IO side of the SAK team, or a combination, depending on the internship project. Examples of IO work include FICON channel adapters, Networking protocol & adapter, and Coupling Facility. CP & OS work varies based on new features, operations, and functions for the latest machine technologies.

Qualifications

• Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
• Preferred Technical And Professional Experience:
• Familiarity with Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of Containerization (e.g., Docker).
• Exposure to Testing Frameworks (e.g., Jest, Pytest).
• Interest in leadership opportunities.
