Software Engineer Intern, Internal Apps
Neuralink
About Neuralink
Neuralink is creating devices that enable a bi-directional interface with the brain, aiming to restore movement to the paralyzed, sight to the blind, and revolutionize human interaction with the digital world.
Team Description
The internal apps team collaborates with neuroscientists, physicists, chip designers, pathologists, and mechanical engineers to build Neuralink's centralized data aggregation and analysis platform. This platform collects, organizes, and visualizes diverse data, including neural signal recordings, brain histology images, and experimental/operational data. The team focuses on projects that drive engineering and experimentation, operating like an internal startup with rapid prototyping and software building. Projects typically involve full-stack tools but can utilize any tech stack. The team emphasizes direct ownership, autonomy, and high expectations in a fast-paced environment.
Job Description and Responsibilities
This is a high-autonomy, high-ownership internship where you will work directly with engineers and scientists to build software with immediate, tangible impact on Neuralink's mission. Responsibilities include:
- Working on applications to make Neuralink 100x faster.
- Developing data platforms to collect, organize, and visualize diverse data from neural signal recordings, device telemetries, surgery recordings, and experimental data.
- Building Lab Systems software, the digital collaboration hub for all teams.
- Creating ERP software to orchestrate and track the design of brain-computer interfaces.
- Developing DevOps and infrastructure to increase developer productivity.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Demonstrated experience shipping a product that has been actively used, regardless of tech stack or domain.
- Full-stack engineering capability.
- Ruby on Rails and React/TypeScript preferred, though adaptability matters more.
- Ability to design and implement simple and elegant software solutions.
- Strong communication and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
- Ownership mentality and comfort with ambiguity.
- Understanding of how software works at a fundamental level.
