About the Role

The Volunteer role at Karaikal Port Private Ltd is a full-time, on-site position based in Papanasam. Volunteers will support port operations and administrative activities. The role offers exposure to port operations and regional development initiatives, providing valuable experience for individuals interested in infrastructure, logistics, or community development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with documentation.
• Coordinating with internal teams.
• Helping to organize community outreach or stakeholder engagement initiatives.
• Data entry.
• Basic record-keeping.
• Helping with simple logistics support.
• Contributing to environmental, safety, or social responsibility projects in coordination with the port team.
• Collaborating with supervisors and colleagues to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintaining a professional, safety-conscious work environment.

Qualifications

• Strong basic communication skills, including clear spoken and written English.
• Ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
• Organizational and administrative skills, such as attention to detail and time management.
• Comfort with documentation and record-keeping.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, and email or online collaboration tools.
• Interpersonal and teamwork skills, including reliability and a cooperative attitude.
• Willingness to learn from supervisors and peers.
• An interest in ports, logistics, infrastructure, or community development.
• Readiness to follow safety and compliance guidelines at all times.
• Completion of secondary education is preferred.
• Enrollment in or completion of a diploma or degree in a relevant field (e.g., logistics, commerce, engineering, social work) is an added advantage.
• Prior volunteer or internship experience, especially in operational or community-focused environments, will be considered beneficial but is not mandatory.
