Business Development Representative

Shields Group Search

San Francisco, CAFresher1d agovia LinkedIn

About the Role

Shields Group Search is partnering with an early-stage AI company transforming how commercial real estate firms operate. The company designs, builds, and runs custom AI agents for acquisitions, investment management, and asset management teams. These agents are trained to each firm’s templates, criteria, and conventions, wired into existing tools, and run on demand. This is the company's first Business Development Representative role, focusing on the top of the sales funnel.

The Role

This seat owns the entire top of the funnel, in person in San Francisco. You will determine how the company reaches US commercial real estate firms and execute outreach via LinkedIn, email, phone, events, or other methods to engage principals. The target audience includes owners, acquisitions leads, and asset managers. Your primary responsibility is to book qualified meetings for the founders, with everything up to that handoff being yours. The quota after ramp is 30 booked meetings per month, with flexibility in channel selection. Ramp-up is at half quota in month one and full quota by month two. This position is a growth path into the company’s first closing role. You will receive significant support including a power dialer, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, mobile-first data, curated lists, sequences and scripts, and weekly review sessions with founders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the outbound mix into curated lists of CRE decision-makers: phone, LinkedIn, and email.
  • Select the outreach channel per account, with a minimum of five touches before rotation, logging every touch.
  • Write outreach copy, leveraging the company’s existing library and positioning, and refining it based on response rates.
  • Book meetings while interest is live, ensuring invite sent, time confirmed, and decision-makers only.
  • Own the meeting show-up rate through same-day recaps, day-before confirmations, and morning-of nudges.
  • Provide feedback from outreach to founders during weekly reviews to sharpen messaging, lists, and product strategy.
  • Learn the buyer's vocabulary, including terms like OMs, underwriting models, rent rolls, to engage principals by week two.
  • Conduct research, preparation, and follow-ups using the company’s AI agents.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Relentless drive; undeterred by low initial response rates.
  • Eager and fast learner.
  • Coachable and open to feedback on calls and emails.
  • Clear, unhurried presence when interacting with senior individuals, both on the phone and in writing.
  • Genuinely curious about the commercial real estate industry.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to work in person in San Francisco during US business hours.
  • Comfort with the realities of an early-stage company.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn outreach, email sequencing, or a power dialer.

Qualifications

  • Time spent in or around commercial real estate: brokerage, property management, lending, or proptech.
  • Experience earning and retaining a stranger's attention in roles such as sales, recruiting, fundraising, hospitality, or other customer-facing positions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary: $85,000
  • Meeting Booking Commission: $75 per meeting booked, uncapped.
  • On-Target Earnings (OTE) at Quota: $120,000+
  • Equity: Included in the role, sized for an early commercial hire.
  • Work Arrangement: Full-time, in person in San Francisco, during US business hours.
  • Growth Path: Opportunity to grow into the company's first closing role.
