IoT Software Developer

About the Role

• Work on software applications that connect industrial machines, edge devices, and cloud platforms.
• Contribute to the development, maintenance, and support of software running on edge devices that collect machine data, communicate securely with cloud platforms, and enable remote management at scale.
• Work with Windows-based edge devices, cloud-connected applications, and device lifecycle management processes.
• This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys hands-on software development, troubleshooting complex device and connectivity issues, and working at the intersection of industrial systems, edge computing, and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Implementation
• Implement software components and features based on provided designs, specifications, and guidance.
• Contribute to the development of reliable, maintainable, and secure code.
• Apply agreed coding standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Make basic technical decisions within assigned tasks, escalating questions or uncertainties.
• Delivery & Execution Excellence
• Translate assigned requirements and tasks into working software.
• Complete development work in alignment with sprint goals and delivery commitments.
• Contribute to task breakdowns and effort estimates.
• Proactively raise risks, blockers, or implementation issues.

• Write clean, testable code and contribute to unit and integration tests.
• Participate in code reviews, incorporating feedback.

• Assist in troubleshooting defects and issues in development and production environments.
• Support corrective (bug fixes) and evolutive (enhancements) maintenance of existing solutions.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Proficiency in C# and the .NET platform
• Working knowledge of Python or other scripting languages
• Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Git repositories, and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts
• Familiarity with device communication protocols such as MQTT, OPC-UA, or similar technologies
• Experience using AI assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot) responsibly, with full accountability for code quality, security, and compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Assets

• Hands-on experience with IoT, industrial automation, edge computing, or device lifecycle management
• Experience with Azure IoTHub, DPS, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, or Azure Data Explorer
• Experience supporting Windows based machines
• Familiarity with OTA software and firmware update mechanisms
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy controls for IoT environments
