Software Engineering Intern (Full-Stack & AI)

About Sell Front

Sell Front provides businesses that take orders (cafés, home bakers, boutiques, kirana stores) with their own website and checkout, run from their existing WhatsApp chat. Orders are received in WhatsApp with "Accept" and "Out of stock" buttons, and stock and payments are managed from the same chat. An AI assistant answers seller questions and drafts new shop designs upon request. Sell Front is currently onboarding its first businesses.

The Internship

Join a small team building the product, including the buyer storefront, the seller's app, and the WhatsApp chat that manages the entire shop. You will ship real features to real businesses, with every change reviewed by the founders.

What You Will Work On

• Features across the storefront and seller app (TypeScript, Next.js, React).
• Background jobs for orders, payments, stock changes, and photos (Node.js, BullMQ, Redis).
• Data layer: PostgreSQL with Drizzle ORM, migrations, and tests.
• WhatsApp integration: messages, buttons, and seller commands.
• AI features: seller's assistant and AI Restyle (shop design adaptation based on requests). This involves prompt engineering, tool use, output validation, and sandboxing.
• Writing tests (Vitest) and refining the product.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, and Git.
• Experience building something end-to-end (project, hackathon, or open-source contribution).
• Basic SQL and understanding of web application fundamentals (HTTP, APIs, browser, server).
• A proactive approach to problem-solving: reading errors, researching, and trying solutions before asking for help.
• Clear written English.
• Availability for 2 months.

A Plus (Not Required)

• Agentic AI experience (building with LLMs beyond single prompts, using tool calling, multi-step agents, RAG, or evaluations) with frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, OpenAI SDK, Anthropic SDK, or similar.
• Next.js or React experience in a real project.
• Experience with queues and background work (BullMQ, Celery or similar), Redis, PostgreSQL.
• Experience with the WhatsApp Business Platform or another messaging API.
• Experience with Docker, AWS (S3, Lambda), or any cloud platform.
• Writing tests.
