About the Role

The Cashier role at Jay’s Mart is a part-time, on-site position based in Anniston, AL.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register and accurately process cash, card, and digital payments.
• Issue receipts or change.
• Greet customers.
• Answer basic questions about products and store policies.
• Ensure the checkout area remains clean, organized, and well-stocked with bags and related supplies.
• Assist with stocking shelves near the front of the store.
• Monitor inventory of small items at the register.
• Follow all cash-handling and loss-prevention procedures.
• Maintain consistent punctuality.
• Adhere to company policies.
• Collaborate with other team members and supervisors.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Ability to operate a cash register or point-of-sale system.
• Handle cash, card, and digital transactions accurately.
• Basic math skills for making change, balancing a cash drawer, and reconciling end-of-shift totals.
• Attention to detail and reliability in following store procedures, including cash-handling and safety guidelines.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, move around the store, and lift light to moderate items as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills, including a friendly, professional manner.
• Previous retail or cashier experience is helpful but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, or current enrollment in high school with availability for part-time work.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
