Confined Space Entry Monitor

About the Role

Depot Connect International (DCI), a global leader in Tank/ISO Tank Container Services and Tank Trailer Parts, is seeking a Confined Space Entry Monitor.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a confined space attendant, responsible for fire prevention and fire protection.
• Monitor and protect the Entrant.
• Monitor two spaces accessible from the same platform.
• Perform external fire watch duties for Hotwork.
• Remain outside the permit space during entry operations unless relieved.
• Know existing and potential hazards, including information on mode of exposure, signs or symptoms, consequences, and physiological effects.
• Maintain communication with the Entrant(s) via verbal communication, signals, or radio.
• Post the permit at or near the point of entry and keep an accurate account of entrants.
• Ensure ventilation is in use and functional throughout the entry.
• Verify that the entrant has completed and documented pre-entry meter readings.
• Verify the Entrant is wearing all required PPE identified on the permit, including a harness connected to a Rescue Self Retracting Lifeline (RSRL) or mechanical rescue device.
• Perform non-entry rescue using RSRL or mechanical rescue device.
• Summon rescue and other services during an emergency.
• Order evacuation of the permit space under certain circumstances.
• Prevent unauthorized people from entering permit spaces.
• Inform authorized entrants and the entry supervisor if any unauthorized person enters the permit space.
• Perform shop helper and other safety duties as needed.
• Foundational technician training available if desired.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• MUST BE ABLE TO WEAR A RESPIRATOR.
• Competent with operation of RSRL and mechanical rescue device.
• Working knowledge of safety procedures.
• Ability to complete multiple tasks with a strong sense of urgency.
• Ability to work well within a team environment and take instructions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Safety Oriented with the ability to identify and eliminate hazards and unsafe work practices.
• Capable of performing the essential functions of the job.
• Experience with Confined Space Attendant, Fire Watch, Bottle Watch, Rope Rescue Technician, or Hole Watch is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience is NOT required but is a PLUS.

Work Environment

• Exposure to shop areas requiring personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, etc.).
• Exposure to ambient temperatures, typical shop lighting, and mechanical equipment.
• Work may be performed in a covered or outside environment.
