About the Role
Join Banner Health's Environmental Services department at Banner University Medical Center - Tucson, a fast-paced work environment. This role is an opportunity to provide a clean, sanitized, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures.
- Plans the completion of cleaning tasks daily.
- Empties hampers and transports soiled linen.
- Empties trash containers and removes all trash.
- Empties all medical waste containers, including sharps.
- Inventories, restocks, and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in assigned areas.
- Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel of necessary repairs.
- Protects equipment from damage through proper use and logs equipment usage.
- May perform special projects such as windows washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings.
- Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors, meeting or exceeding customer service satisfaction goals.
- Ensures the safety, health, and high morale of patients, visitors, and staff by providing a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
- Ensures proper infection control and safety procedures are followed.
- Sterilizes procedural rooms and performs terminal cleaning of operating rooms.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision.
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally.
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets (MSDS) and instructions for mixing and using cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers.
Training Schedule:
- 1st Week: Monday-Friday: 8 AM – 4:30 PM
- 2nd Week: Monday-Friday 7 AM – 3:30 PM
- Includes attending NEO on a Monday morning.
- Training locations for BUMCT & BUMCS to be determined by EVS Educator.
Location & Schedule
- Banner - University Medical Center - 1625 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson, Arizona.
- Full Time - Day Shift: 7 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Weekends rotations and Holidays are required.
- Flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and 18% night shift differential when applicable.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous related experience.
- Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques is preferred.
- Additional related education and/or experience is preferred.
Specific to certain locations:
- Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
- An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
- Employees working at Olive Branch Senior Center must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
Note: A $1000 sign-on bonus is offered for this position.
