Software Engineer 1

About the Role

Choice Hotels is seeking a Software Engineer 1 for their Data and Analytics Platform. This role contributes to system components, builds technical expertise, and gains practical software engineering experience under the guidance of senior staff. The position is an individual contributor with no direct reports and requires a growth mindset, strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, and a passion for data.

Note: This role is four days onsite hybrid at the N. Scottsdale office and is not eligible for sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and debug secure, maintainable code under the guidance of senior engineers, following established standards, source control, and CI/CD practices.
• Write and run automated and manual unit tests, and partner with Test Engineering on defect resolution.
• Support production releases and help resolve post-production issues.
• Analyze user stories and requirements and work with business partners to clarify underlying needs.
• Collaborate in an agile team, participate in code reviews, and continuously build technical skills.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Relevant technical training or certifications may be considered.
• Experience or academic exposure across the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, debugging, testing, release, and operational support.
• Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and object-oriented programming concepts.
