Data Engineer

About the Role

This is a full-time Data Engineer Rotational Program position at Axos Bank, based 100% on-site at their HQ in San Diego, CA. It is designed as a first step in a technology career, offering multi-software platform exposure, knowledge expansion, and real-life application. The program focuses on developing skills in database development, data quality, and business intelligence reporting to provide enterprise-level solutions. The goal is permanent placement within the area of focus after completing rotations.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, prepare, execute, and implement data validation and unit/integration testing methods to ensure data quality.
• Create SSIS packages for data transformation, cleansing, caching, aggregation, staging, and transfer.
• Analyze and define data flow requirements, preparing applicable system documentation and operation manuals.
• Code, test, and maintain new and existing SQL jobs, stored procedures, and functions.
• Performance tune existing stored procedures, tables, and indexes.
• Troubleshoot database environment issues, including performance, replication, and operational problems.
• Review SQL code for compliance with coding standards, best practices, and maximum performance.
• Perform data analysis and data profiling tasks to support development and design decisions.
• Develop solutions adhering to the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) on a cross-platform team involving Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, and omnichannel solutions.
• Join client meetings to communicate status, give demos, provide timelines, and offer insights.
• Participate in daily meetings covering testing and code reviews.
• Collaborate with IT, Enterprise Data Management, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to plan the launch of new or enhanced dashboards, prepare launch collateral/documentation, and work with users through project phases.
• Develop a deep understanding of the Bank's databases, identifying appropriate data sources, relationships, and logic for reliable report production.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Focus on SQL related software and direct interactions with SQL.
• Experience with SSIS packages.
• Exposure to Integrations with other cloud and on-premise systems.
• Programmatic components: Apex, Lightning Web Components.
• Automation components: Flows, Assignment Rules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
