Position Title: Test Engineer (Level 3 – Senior)

Location: Bethesda MD

Salary: Up to $160,000.00 per year

Core Hours: 9am to 4pm

Clearance: Top Secret (TS/SCI) with a Polygraph

About the Role

As a Test Engineer, you will design, develop, and execute automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications and services within a Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery Pipeline in a commercial cloud environment. You will streamline testing processes, reduce defects, and accelerate software releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect automated testing solutions: Define, implement, and maintain the overall test automation framework and strategy.
• Drive test automation best practices: Establish and enforce standards, coding guidelines, and best practices for test automation.
• Guide and mentor junior and mid-level test engineers.
• Participate in program Agile software development initiatives (standup, planning, increment planning) for custom applications.
• Assess StoryPoint/complexity efforts to ensure proper testing and delivery of functionality.
• Collaborate to develop test approaches with an emphasis on automation of recurring/regression test cases.
• Develop automated test cases using GUI/COTS products such as Selenium and Katalon Studio.
• Leverage DevOps practices for repeatability and configuration management of test cases/scripts.
• Develop and document end-to-end functionality test case narratives using JIRA/Confluence.
• Support performance testing/evaluation activities using tools such as Jmeter.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Mandatory Requirements:
• Extensive experience in software quality assurance with a significant focus on automation testing.
• Extensive experience with creation, authoring, execution, and documentation of test cases/result sets for software products in an agile cadence.
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience in designing and implementing robust automation frameworks using tools like Selenium or Katalon Studio.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Java or Python.
• Extensive experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub) and their integration with automated tests.
• Direct experience with software performance testing practices.
• Extensive experience working/testing within Commercial Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS) and DevOps tools.
• Experience in a SAFe Agile and DevOps development environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative environment to execute test cases.
• Optional Requirements:
• Hands-on experience with Katalon Studio and Katalon Runtime Engine.
• Proven experience leading software verification initiatives and mentoring junior or mid-level engineers.
• Experience reviewing output of CI/CD jobs and tracking test failures back to code changes.
• Capable of reviewing code check-ins to understand the impact of code changes.
• Direct experience with AWS environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of prior relevant experience, OR Master’s degree with 15+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
