Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor

About the Role

Idaho State University (ISU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science, specializing in public administration, to begin in August 2027. The department seeks a candidate to contribute primarily to its growing MPA program, with opportunities to serve as MPA Director and teach in undergraduate and other graduate (MA, DA) political science programs.

This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

• 3-3 teaching load
• Service and research obligations (40% of workload)

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or a closely related field by the start of the Fall 2027 semester.
• Candidates who are ABD will be considered, provided all degree requirements are successfully completed prior to the start of classes in Fall 2027.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to teach courses such as: Introduction to Public Administration, Human Resource Management, Public Policy Analysis, Public Administration Ethics, Nonprofit Management, Grantwriting, Community and Regional Planning, Program Assessment and Evaluation, and MPA Capstone.
• Possession of an MPA degree.
• Completion of comprehensive exams in public administration.

Additional Information

• Salary: $66,000 - $75,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
