About the Role
This is a 5-month ITOps Intern position at NimbleWork, focusing on running enterprise SaaS on AWS. The role involves working with an AI agent to manage production environments for large and regulated customers who expect high uptime and fast responses. The internship is hybrid, with 2 days a week in the Mumbai office.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside an alert-triage agent that reads alerts, pulls logs/metrics, checks runbooks, drafts diagnoses, and proposes fixes. You will review, correct, approve, or overrule the agent's suggestions.
- Write runbooks that machines can act on, converting tribal knowledge into actionable steps for both engineers and the AI agent.
- Assist in moving an AI agent from a laptop to production.
- Gain hands-on experience with a real production stack including EKS, Helm, Kafka, Redis, ClickHouse, MongoDB Atlas, RDS, and multi-region DR on AWS.
- Observe and participate in InfoSec practices, including Vanta compliance evidence, vulnerability SLAs, SIEM design, and incident response.
- Utilize agent tooling daily, including Claude Code and MCP, and contribute to the MCP connector.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Solid grounding in Linux, networking, and AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC).
- Knowledge of Kubernetes basics.
- Scripting ability in Python or Bash.
- Ability to clearly write runbooks, handoffs, and incident notes.
- Familiarity with the concept of having an AI draft first.
Bonus Qualifications
- Terraform or Helm.
- Experience with any monitoring tool.
- A side project where an LLM agent was used for ops.
Qualifications
- A solid grounding in Linux, networking and AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC), through coursework, internships or personal projects.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes basics and the ability to interpret a stack trace.
- Scripting ability in Python or Bash.
- Curiosity about AI-driven processes.
- Clear writing skills.
What to Expect Honestly
- Location: Mumbai office twice a week, remote other days.
- Term: Fixed 5-month internship with a monthly stipend.
- Growth into on-call: After training and demonstrating aptitude, you may join the on-call rota (including night shifts from home), with advance planning and senior engineer co-signing of actions.
- Background check: Required for onboarding, potentially including a drug screen for customer-facing access.
