About the Role
OdysseyRe is seeking a 2027 Summer Intern, Actuarial to join their team. This internship will provide hands-on experience essential for a career as a reinsurance actuary by shadowing and learning from experienced actuarial professionals. The internship will run for 10 weeks, beginning June 2027. This is a hybrid role, requiring 4 days in-office and 1 day remote each week, based in Stamford, CT.
Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the actuarial team is to evaluate the profitability of reinsurance proposals using sound actuarial techniques and business acumen, in collaboration with underwriting staff.
Essential Functions
- Build and improve pricing models used by the Department.
- Develop dashboards with data visualization tools to relay pertinent information to clients.
- Perform other related duties as required to achieve company and department goals.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Familiarity with Excel is required.
- Experience with VBA for Excel, Tableau, SQL, R, Python, or similar software is a plus.
Qualifications
- Working towards a degree in actuarial science or another mathematical field of study.
- Minimum GPA of 3.2.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- A desire to learn.
- Demonstrated interest in actuarial science through participation in the Casualty Actuarial Society exam process is preferred and encouraged.
