Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems and components for EPCC projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing and developing electrical systems and components for EPCC projects.
• Preparing electrical design documents and drawings.
• Performing load calculations.
• Specifying equipment.
• Coordinating power distribution layouts for petroleum, oil and gas, offshore–onshore, and marine applications.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Attending project meetings.
• Supporting procurement with technical inputs.
• Providing guidance during installation, testing, and commissioning.
• Participating in design reviews.
• Resolving technical issues on-site.
• Contributing to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• CAD and electrical design software.
• Basic project documentation tools.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering and Electricity principles, with the ability to apply them to industrial EPCC projects.
• Proficiency in Electrical Design and Design Engineering, including preparation of drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Experience with Power Distribution systems design, including load flow, cable sizing, protection coordination, and equipment specification.
• Familiarity with relevant international and local electrical standards, codes, and HSE requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities, with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate on-site with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Prior experience in petroleum, oil and gas, offshore–onshore, or marine projects is an advantage.
