About the Internship

Gravitas Technologies is seeking a motivated and versatile Software Engineering Intern to help develop and improve our AI-powered platform for higher education.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain features across the Gravitas platform.
• Help integrate large language models and AI-powered workflows into practical applications for higher education.
• Contribute to frontend interfaces, backend services, APIs, and supporting infrastructure.
• Collaborate with founders and teammates to translate user needs into technical solutions.
• Help connect university information sources, administrative workflows, and third-party services.
• Identify bugs, improve application performance, and help ensure reliable, secure software.
• Evaluate emerging AI tools, frameworks, and engineering approaches to improve the platform.
• Take responsibility for assigned projects, communicate progress, and deliver working solutions.

Technologies You May Work With

Depending on project requirements and your experience, you may work with technologies such as:

• Programming Languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and SQL
• Frontend Development: React and modern web development frameworks
• Backend Development: APIs, server-side applications, and database-driven systems
• Artificial Intelligence: Large language models, AI APIs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI agent workflows
• Data and Infrastructure: Relational databases, cloud services, and application hosting
• Developer Tools: Git, GitHub, automated testing, and modern development environments

Familiarity with every technology listed is not required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

• Is pursuing or has recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field, or can demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
• Has experience programming in at least one language, such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Is interested in artificial intelligence, software engineering, and building practical technology products.
• Can learn unfamiliar tools and technologies quickly.
• Communicates effectively and works well in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
• Takes initiative, accepts feedback, and follows through on commitments.
• Is comfortable working in an early-stage company where priorities can evolve quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building web applications or working with frontend and backend technologies.
• Familiarity with React, Node.js, Python frameworks, or API development.
• Exposure to large language models, AI APIs, prompt engineering, or retrieval-augmented generation.
• Understanding of databases, authentication, and data integration.
• Familiarity with Git, version control, and software testing.
• Personal projects, open-source contributions, or previous internship experience demonstrating technical ability.
• Interest in educational technology, enterprise software, or AI-driven automation.
