About the Role

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA offers the EmERge Emergency Veterinarian Mentorship Training Program. This program aims to equip you with the skills and confidence needed to become a successful Emergency Veterinarian. The program begins annually in January and June.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive one-to-one peer-guided mentorship in emergency medicine.
• Gain valuable experience through case-based lectures, interactive seminars, hands-on practice labs, and mentoring.
• Learn from highly skilled emergency clinicians.
• Apply training in real-world settings under mentorship.
• Transition to managing more complex cases with greater independence.
• Develop critical thinking and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Handle a variety of emergency cases to broaden expertise and build confidence.
• Participate in a weekly webinar series on emergency veterinary medicine.
• Take on full responsibility for managing emergency cases, showcasing confidence and competence.
• Work alongside the hospital team to provide exceptional patient care.
• Apply advanced diagnostic and procedural skills to handle high-acuity cases.
• Excel in a dynamic environment, delivering expert care to critically ill or injured pets.
• Utilize cutting-edge diagnostic tools and perform life-saving procedures.
• Contribute to a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team.
• Engage with pet owners compassionately, providing clear communication.

Program Structure

• Duration: One-year training program, followed by a one-year post-EmERge commitment.
• Phases:
• Phase 1 (Weeks 1-14):
• 4 Weeks of Bootcamp (virtual and in-person) for foundational emergency medicine skills.
• 2 Weeks of Specialty Rotations for exposure to various specialties.
• 8 Weeks of ER Shifts to apply training under mentorship.
• Phase 2 (Weeks 15-32):
• Increased responsibility and managing complex cases with independence.
• Full shifts in the ER.
• Ongoing mentorship and diverse case exposure.
• Weekly webinar series.
• Phase 3 (Weeks 33-52):
• Independent case management.
• Continued collaboration and honing leadership/communication skills.
• Advanced skill application.
• Mentor support as needed.
• Weekly webinar series.

Compensation

• Phase One Salary (Weeks 1-14): $120,000
• Phase Two Salary (Weeks 15-32): $120,000
• Phase Three Salary (Weeks 33-52): Full-time ER Clinician market rate salary plus quarterly production bonus.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Graduate of an AVMA accredited veterinary school.
• Passed (or pending) the NAVLE.
• Have (or be eligible for) a license to practice in the state of interest.
