About the Role
The Frontier ADC team is at the forefront of delivering the AWS GenAI and Agentic AI service portfolio to customers in GovCloud and isolated environments. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in this rapidly evolving field, leveraging cloud computing and advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. Our teams are innovating new ways of building massively scalable distributed systems and delivering the next generation of cloud computing across the GenAI and Agentic AI service portfolio. We support services including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Quick, Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, and Kiro. We are seeking a Senior Systems Development Engineer who can think big and simplify solutions to complex problems, ensuring customers continue to have the best experience.
A successful Systems Development Engineer III joining the team will be an innovator, building solutions and working closely with Amazon's largest and most demanding government customers to address their specific needs across a suite of Frontier AI services in GovCloud and isolated environments. They will drive the resolution of technical issues and work diligently to improve the customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Work cross-functionally to foster constructive dialogue, harmonize discordant views, and lead the resolution of contentious issues.
- Build innovative solutions, expand services into GovCloud and isolated regions, and improve operations to provide resiliency and the best experience for customers.
- Influence technical strategy and architectural decisions within the team and with partner teams, making data-driven decisions.
- Develop, build, and operate AWS Frontier AI services that enable customers to leverage generative AI and agentic capabilities in secure environments.
- Dive deep to resolve operational challenges, innovate to automate operational tasks, build solutions for customers, and support the execution of various security campaigns (e.g., blocked software, host patching) and parity programs.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong Linux & Networking Fundamentals. Deep experience working with Linux, preferably in a large-scale, distributed environment. Understanding of networking technology and how servers and networks inter-relate. Regular participation in deep-dive troubleshooting and technical post-mortem discussions to identify root causes of complex issues.
- Strong software and systems skills. Deep experience working with systems in a large-scale, distributed environment. Comfortable facilitating deep-dive troubleshooting and leading technical post-mortem discussions.
- Ability to solve problems, including leading teams to solve difficult technical problems related to AWS service builds and operations in GovCloud and isolated environments. Solid understanding of systems design, operations, automation, and process improvement.
- Ability to "Think Big" by building and deploying solutions across thousands of devices, and striving to improve and streamline processes for massive scale.
- Love to code. Building tools in Java or solving complex system problems in Python.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust.
- Experience with Linux/Unix.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes.
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with distributed systems at scale.
Security Clearance
This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.
