Financial Analyst I

About the Role

Xcel Energy is seeking a Financial Analyst I for its Career Ignite! Program. This role is designed for individuals to grow, expand skills, and contribute to the clean energy transition. Xcel Energy supports a hybrid work model, with some roles expected to work onsite three days per week.

Position Summary

Assists with the development, tracking, reporting, and analysis of financial information, including financial reporting, budget and forecast creation, and variance analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting and analyzing financial data to perform processes such as budget development, variance reporting, preparing internal and external reports, and identifying data issues.
• Analyze financial data to identify adverse trends and recommend solutions to mitigate financial impact.
• Apply knowledge of financial rules, concepts, and company policies and procedures to resolve common issues.
• Assist with financial analysis and support for the annual budget process, current year forecasting, and five-year forecasting.
• Provide timely and accurate assistance to clients within supported business areas, including interpretation of account codes or financial reports, providing project status reports, and work order resolution.
• Participate in or support special projects as assigned.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Microsoft Office applications (intermediate skills required)
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business degree, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Completion of finance or accounting internship preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in analysis, problem solving, customer service, and relationship building desired.
• Experience in a regulated industry preferred.
• Preference given to current 2026 CFO Interns.
