Public Equity Investment Intern

Viking Global Investors

New York, NYFresher2h agovia Greenhouse

About the Role

Viking Global Investors is seeking a Public Equity Investment Intern for Summer 2027. This 10-week experience will allow interns to develop their investing toolkit and explore actionable investment ideas. Interns will partner directly with portfolio managers and senior analysts, leveraging Viking's fundamental, research-intensive approach to identify and evaluate public equity investment opportunities. Interns will be trained and mentored by experienced investors and the internship will culminate in an investment presentation to the investment team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing primary, in-depth research on industry and company fundamentals by analyzing financial statements and real-time data, conducting channel checks and surveys, and carrying out other comprehensive due diligence activities.
  • Engaging with company management and investor relations teams, sell-side research analysts, and buy-side peers.
  • Attending industry conferences and events.
  • Building and updating financial models.
  • Distilling research down to key drivers of industry, company, and stock price performance to form an investment view.
  • Contributing to Viking’s overall research effort by sharing information and insights with the investment team.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Independence of thought
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Efficient communication skills
  • Autonomous and self-starting nature
  • Intellectual honesty
  • Passion for research and investing

Application Requirements

Please submit a 1–2 page supplement making the case for a controversial investment idea: a view on a publicly traded company, industry, or investment theme where you believe the market consensus is wrong.

Your supplement should:

  • Explain the market consensus and your disagreement.
  • Focus on misunderstood or underappreciated elements.
  • Address and refute the strongest argument against your view.
  • Identify developments that would validate or invalidate your view.

Conviction and original analysis are valued over a balanced summary. Evidence gathered by the applicant is encouraged. Select a topic outside of industries or businesses analyzed professionally.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Currently accepting applications from first-year MBA candidates.
  • Internship is based in New York.
  • Application deadline: December 3, 2026 (11:59 PM ET).

Compensation

  • Base salary range in New York City: $250,000 to $250,000 annually.
  • Potential for other compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, 100% coverage of medical and dental premiums, and paid lunches.
