About the Role
Kshatra Labs is engineering the next generation of defense robotics: high-performance, autonomous systems built to operate at the edge of physical and computational limits. This role involves integrating electronics, actuators, sensors, and software to bring airframes and robotic systems to life, from wiring harness to first flight.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate and bring up flight controllers (PX4/ArduPilot), ESCs, motors, GPS, telemetry radios, cameras, and gimbals.
- Design and build wiring harnesses, power distribution, and connectors with attention to clean routing, strain relief, and EMI awareness.
- Configure, tune, and test vehicles in QGroundControl or Mission Planner, and analyze flight logs.
- Interface sensors and payloads with companion computers (Raspberry Pi, Jetson) and microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, Arduino).
- Design mechanisms with actuators, such as servos, release mechanisms, gimbals, and deployable or folding parts.
- Conduct bench and field tests, methodically debug failures, and document fixes.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Embedded programming in C/C++ or Python on at least one microcontroller platform.
- Comfort with communication protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, PWM, CAN, or MAVLink.
- At least one project integrating hardware and software into a working system and testing it.
Qualifications
- Pursuing or recently completed a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Robotics, or a related branch.
- Solid basics in circuits, power electronics (batteries, BECs, current and voltage limits), and soldering.
Good-to-haves:
- Hands-on drone experience: built, tuned, or flown a multirotor, fixed-wing, or VTOL.
- Exposure to ROS/ROS 2, Linux, computer vision, or autonomy stacks.
- Basic CAD for designing brackets and enclosures, plus 3D printing.
- Familiarity with RF links, video transmission, or long-range telemetry.
- Knowledge of designing electronics for vibration, heat, dust, or water ingress.
What you'll learn
- Full-stack integration on autonomous robotic platforms.
- Systems thinking: how mechanical, electrical, and software choices affect each other.
- Field-testing discipline on hardware that has to work the first time.
