Mechanical Engineer I

About the Role

The Shipboard Effectors Department is searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer I to work on a multi-discipline team supporting the production of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems in Louisville, KY. The Mechanical Engineer I performs in alignment with expectations in the design, development, and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical execution of tasks, recommending solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon Technologies and at suppliers.
• Post critical design activities include contributing to first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations to production issues.
• Decisions are data driven and require preparing technical justification analysis reports and presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
• Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews.

• 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
• Creo (modeling and drawing)
• Windchill (PDM)

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline obtained by start date.
• Experience with 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
• Experience with interpreting assembly and/or component drawings.
• Experience in providing solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Security Requirements

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• DoD Clearance: Secret
• Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.
