About the Role

The VMC Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines to produce precision components according to technical drawings and process instructions. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Mumbai.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up jobs, load and unload workpieces.
• Select appropriate tools and adjust machine parameters to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Conduct basic inspections using measuring instruments.
• Report deviations and coordinate with supervisors or quality teams to resolve issues.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain cleanliness around the machine.
• Perform routine checks to keep equipment in good working condition.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Ability to operate and set up VMC machines, including tool selection, fixture setup, and basic parameter adjustments.
• Working knowledge of interpreting engineering drawings, machining symbols, and process sheets.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and height gauges for dimensional checks.
• Understanding of basic CNC machining concepts, cutting speeds and feeds, and material properties relevant to machining.
• Familiarity with shop-floor safety practices, housekeeping standards, and safe handling of tools and equipment.
• Ability to identify machining issues (e.g., tool wear, dimensional variation, surface defects) and escalate or take corrective actions as instructed.
• Basic communication skills and ability to maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Willingness to work in shifts and follow standardized procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum educational background: ITI, Diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical, Production, or a related trade is preferred.
• Prior experience as a VMC Operator or in CNC machining is an advantage; entry-level candidates with relevant technical training may also be considered.
• Ability to collaborate with production and quality teams.
