Control Center Operator

About the Role

DK Security is seeking qualified professionals to join our Central Control team. Operators work alongside State of Michigan personnel, supporting the Security Operations Center for State of Michigan facilities. Central Control is a 24/7/365 operation that monitors security and life safety systems, coordinates emergency response, and serves as a central point of contact for agency security information and requests.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security and life safety systems and initiate response.
• Monitor security cameras.
• Provide emergency response coordination and communication.
• Act as a central point of contact for agency security inquiries and requests.
• Assist building operations with after-hours support.
• Responsible for security equipment cleaning, inventory, and testing.
• Receive and process emergency information and requests (e.g., medical emergencies, threats of violence, suspicious activity, suspicious packages, fire, weather emergencies).
• Initiate emergency response efforts based on available information, established procedures, and best practices.
• Coordinate response efforts and share information with various stakeholders (law enforcement, emergency dispatchers, fire fighters, medics, security guards, facilities supervisors, management).
• Draft and send emergency response communications and after-action reports.
• Utilize security systems to monitor and facilitate emergency response efforts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Full-Time: Monday - Sunday, various days/1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.
• Available to work morning, evening, and night shifts on a 3-to-4-month rotation.
• Evening and Night shifts receive an additional $1.00 / hour shift differential increase.
• Computer literate and able to use standard office software.
• Intermediate computer skills: Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Email, Internet, and able to learn new software.
• Able to use a smart mobile phone and computer to type, check and respond to emails, and complete online training.
• Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Qualifications

• Be computer literate and able to use standard office software.
• Dress professionally and have excellent personal hygiene and grooming standards.
• Have excellent customer service and phone skills.
• Remain calm in emergencies and able to de-escalate situations.
• Commit to working with the team, studying and applying post guidelines and job duties with high accuracy.
• Pay attention to detail.
• Military veterans and people with security, firefighting, department of corrections, or law enforcement experience are encouraged to apply.
• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent education certification (e.g., GED).
• Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter.
• Must not have been convicted of any felonies.
• Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances, or two or more alcohol-related offenses.
• Able to sit, stand, and walk, including up and down stairs, for 8-12 hours at a time.
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certified (Child, Infant, and Adult), or willing to become certified and be physically capable of administering lifesaving care.
• Able to see clearly at least 20 feet away (assisted with glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
• Able to hear conversations in loud environments either in-person or via radio.
