Social Media & Growth Intern
ŌU | TCM Wellness Ritual
About the Role
ŌU is a New York wellness tea brand rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. We are looking for a creative, AI-native Social Media & Growth Intern who enjoys writing, making short-form videos, discovering creators, and understanding what makes people stop scrolling and connect with a brand. You’ll work directly with the founder and collaborate with our designer, UGC creators, and brand ambassadors to grow ŌU’s presence. Instagram will be your primary focus, alongside Pinterest, TikTok, and YouTube.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Writing
- Help plan and manage a content calendar, with Instagram as the primary channel.
- Write engaging captions, video hooks, scripts, carousel copy, Pinterest descriptions, and YouTube titles and descriptions.
- Develop recurring content around tea rituals, ingredients, brewing, everyday routines, and the people behind ŌU.
- Adapt ideas for each platform’s audience and format while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
- Schedule and publish approved content, engage with our community, and identify conversations worth joining.
Short-Form Video & Creative Collaboration
- Create and edit Instagram Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts using product footage, phone-shot clips, and approved creator content.
- Turn raw footage into clear, engaging stories through strong openings, pacing, captions, sound, and thoughtful editing.
- Collaborate with our designer on storyboards, carousels, covers, campaign assets, and visual consistency.
- Explore different versions of a video or message and learn which approaches resonate.
- Help capture product details, brewing moments, behind-the-scenes footage, and everyday lifestyle content.
AI-Powered Content Workflows
- Use AI tools naturally throughout your workflow for research, brainstorming, scripts, caption variations, editing support, and content repurposing.
- Build repeatable workflows that help a small team produce and organize quality content efficiently.
- Bring your own judgment to AI outputs: check facts, refine the language, and make sure the final work feels specific to ŌU.
- Explore useful tools and share practical ways the team can improve its creative process.
UGC, Creators & Brand Ambassadors
- Discover creators and potential brand ambassadors whose content and communities align with ŌU.
- Support personalized outreach, follow-ups, product gifting, and relationship building.
- Help develop creator briefs with clear concepts, deliverables, and timelines.
- Coordinate content submissions and organize approved assets, usage permissions, and posting schedules.
- Work with creators and ambassadors on authentic tea rituals, brewing videos, unboxings, and product experiences.
Marketing Strategy & Growth
- Research audience interests, relevant brands, emerging formats, and potential collaborations.
- Contribute ideas for launches, content series, ambassador activities, and community campaigns.
- Test hooks, formats, posting approaches, and calls to action with guidance from the founder.
- Track reach, video retention, saves, shares, profile visits, website clicks, and conversions where measurable.
- Share a concise weekly recap of what worked, what you learned, and what to try next.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Demonstrated experience growing a social media account—your own or one you managed for a brand, business, student organization, or community. Show the starting point, timeframe, results, and your specific contribution.
- Experience identifying, contacting, and coordinating UGC creators, including outreach, follow-ups, creative briefs, and content delivery.
- Strong understanding of Instagram, especially Reels, Stories, and carousels, with familiarity across Pinterest, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Strong writing skills across captions, video hooks, scripts, and other social content.
- Hands-on short-form video editing experience using CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar tools.
- An AI-native workflow: you regularly use AI to support research, ideation, writing, editing, or repurposing, and apply your own judgment to the final work.
- Ability to interpret performance data and use it to improve content and campaigns.
- Strong organization, initiative, and communication skills when working with designers, creators, and brand ambassadors.
- Interest in tea, wellness, food and beverage, lifestyle, or consumer brands.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college or university and eligible to receive academic credit.
- Marketing, communications, media, business, and related backgrounds are welcome; a design degree is not required.
- We value evidence of meaningful growth, such as increased reach, engagement, audience size, or website traffic. A large personal following is not required, but hands-on account growth and UGC sourcing experience are required.
