Associate, Reporting and Analytics

About the Role

The Reporting & Analytics Associate is a techno-functional role based in Bain’s GBS Gurugram office. This role is part of a team that provides business intelligence services, including insights and analytics on key metrics, to global functions at Bain.

Key Responsibilities

• Support recurring and ad-hoc analytics on key metrics as required by Bain's leadership.
• Build new workflows using Alteryx, Python, SQL, Tableau Prep (or other EDA tools).
• Build new dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, Advanced Excel (or other visualization tools).
• Refresh and maintain dashboards on Tableau/Power BI.
• Optimize Alteryx / Tableau Prep workflows.
• Develop expertise on key Bain data sources to deliver effective output.
• Use basic Generative AI to brainstorm and optimize operational tasks.

Principal Accountabilities

• Operational Execution
• Apply and build technical expertise in Data Visualization and Data Analysis (EDA) tools like Alteryx, Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
• Help create basic reporting solutions using tools like Alteryx and Tableau, focusing on learning and supporting routine tasks.
• Assist in automating simple, repetitive tasks in reporting processes using Python and SQL, focusing on gaining experience and understanding basic automation techniques.
• Take responsibility for completing small, well-defined tasks within projects, ensuring completion as instructed by senior team members.
• Problem Solving
• Assist in collecting and preparing data for analysis and reporting, ensuring data is clean and ready for use.
• Begin learning and applying basic best practices in automation and reporting, focusing on accuracy and consistency.
• Participate in team brainstorming sessions and offer ideas for simple improvements or innovations, focusing on learning the creative process.
• Work closely with Senior Associates and Senior Specialists, applying feedback and learning from experienced team members.
• Build a basic understanding of Bain business processes.
• Team Activities
• Actively participate in team activities, training sessions, and meetings to build knowledge and understand team processes.
• Assist in the smooth operation of team activities by helping with routine tasks and learning about team culture and processes.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn and apply solutions to data and reporting tasks under supervision.
• Ability to contribute to simple tasks within the development of reporting solutions and data analytics projects, with guidance from senior team members.

Qualifications

• First-class undergraduate/postgraduate from leading and reputed colleges.
• Experience: 2-5 years (graduates) or 0-3 years (post-graduates) of relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting solutions, with exposure to tools like Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, and Python.
• Basic experience working in a data-focused environment, supporting routine reporting tasks and learning from experienced team members.
• Recommended Years of Relevant Experience – 0-2+

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of SQL, with some experience in data management tasks, query optimization, and supporting schema design.
• Knowledge of Python, with an emphasis on automating basic tasks and a growing understanding of data processing.
• Familiarity with basic features of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and analytics frameworks (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
• Experience in assisting with simple AI model tasks, such as text classification, with direct supervision.
• Concentration in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics, Business Administration, Finance, Business Analytics, or Market Research is strongly preferred.
