About the Role
HDR is seeking an Entry Level Construction Inspector to join our South Carolina Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team. This role involves performing construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and bridge construction projects, utilizing SCDOT policies and procedures. Work will include materials testing, construction observation, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and bridge construction projects.
- Utilize SCDOT policies and procedures.
- Conduct materials testing.
- Perform construction observation.
- Complete required reporting.
- Be trained to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Identify discrepancies or conflicts within construction documents.
- Enforce contract documents.
- Night and/or weekend work may be required as dictated by client project needs.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.
- Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law.

Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- SCDOT experience (Preferred).
- Tech school degree (Preferred).
- Local candidates are preferred.
- This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing.
