SRE Monitoring Platform Software Engineer
Bitdeer (NASDAQ: BTDR)
About the Role
Bitdeer is building an AI-operated GPU cloud, a global fleet of data centers running valuable compute, operated by a platform that observes, protects, and manages the fleet. The SRE Platform team builds the monitoring and automation foundation for all other squads. As an entry-level Software Engineer on the SRE / Monitoring Platform team, you will contribute to the NeoCloud SRE platform, a multi-region system that observes, protects, and operates a GPU rental fleet. This is a build and learn role where you will write code, write tests, and operate what you build under the guidance of a senior engineer.
Key Responsibilities
Where you'll contribute (guided by a senior engineer):
- Collection + Storage — build collection agents, metrics/logs/traces/profiles stores, and enrichment services. Write ingestion, query, and storage-path code.
- Alert + Correlation + SLO — contribute to alert engine frameworks, alert correlation, and SLO frameworks; implement and tune default alert rules.
- Topology + Cluster-Health — contribute to topology services, cluster-health rollups, and OSS-SRE-tool collection plugins for K8s, Slurm, Ray, Volcano, Kueue, KubeRay.
- Remediation + Workflow + Jobs — build remediation actuators, orchestration/workflow components, inspection probes, and job schedulers.
- Observability Instrumentation — instrument services with metrics, logs, and traces via OpenTelemetry; build dashboards; write runbooks.
- Test Discipline — write unit, integration, and contract tests for all shipped code; participate in chaos and soak tests.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Solid fundamentals in one programming language: Go (preferred), Python, Java, or Rust.
- CS Fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, concurrency, basic networking (TCP, HTTP), and operating-system concepts (processes, threads, I/O).
- Distributed Systems Basics: understanding of idempotency, retries, back-pressure, caching, and eventual consistency.
- Monitoring / Observability Exposure: hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or similar; ability to write basic PromQL queries and instrument services.
- Familiarity with Linux and the shell.
- Kubernetes Basics: understanding of Pods, Services, Deployments; experience running applications on K8s.
- Git + CI Basics: branching, pull requests, experience with a CI pipeline (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
- Test Discipline: habit of writing unit and integration tests.
- Communication: clear written and verbal English.
- Curiosity and Learning Mindset.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of software engineering experience.
- New graduates with strong projects or internships are welcome.
- Internship or project in monitoring/observability, telemetry pipelines, or platform/SRE tooling (Nice-to-Have).
- Exposure to GPU / AI-infra (e.g., DCGM, InfiniBand/RoCE, Kubernetes GPU Operator, Slurm/Ray) (Nice-to-Have).
- Exposure to AIOps / ML-adjacent tooling (e.g., anomaly detection, alert correlation) (Nice-to-Have).
- Contributions to open-source observability or cloud-native projects (Nice-to-Have).
