Android Engineer, Flagship Mobile App

About the Role

• Serve as a technical specialist delivering the engineering that powers the product.
• Develop keen insight into the technical architecture and design to deliver robust and scalable software components.
• Solve engineering problems, demonstrating depth of expertise.
• Balance speed of delivering new features with robustness of software components.
• Handle operational issues with little or no oversight.
• Actively review code to ensure software quality and functional accuracy.
• Learn the design and architecture of the product and participate in ceremonies that can influence them.
• Join the team that brings Target guests their “shopping and saving sidekick” – the guest facing Target Android and iOS shopping app.
• Be part of a feature team building and evolving experiences within Target’s flagship mobile app.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop clean, well-tested native Android code to deliver functionality that meets business objectives.
• Work closely with partner teams like UX and Product.
• Keep abreast of technology trends and advances in mobile technologies.
• Produce clear and concise technical deliverables for internal and external use.
• Innovate constantly and maintain the technical edge.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Android development
• Kotlin
• Modern Android tools and technologies such as Dagger framework, Jetpack Compose, Espresso
• Familiarity with current and emerging technologies in own scope of responsibility.
• Ability to apply new technologies.
• Domain-specific knowledge.
• Technical knowledge within areas of expertise.
• Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education.

Qualifications

• 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of experience with Android development.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement.
