About the Role
An "Effect" is an innovative camera feature that seamlessly integrates cutting-edge AR technology, enabling users to create captivating videos. Central to the TikTok user experience, effects ignite joy, foster creativity, and spur new trends among our billion+ global community. At the heart of TikTok's mission lies creation. The TikTok Camera Effect team is seeking talented software engineers with experience in Mobile Development, AI, CG, ML, or AR to build the next-generation of camera effects using the latest AI technologies.
This is an internship program offering students hands-on experience, industry exposure, and opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges while building a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. Interns will gain practical experience, explore potential career paths, and participate in social events, learning programs, and development workshops alongside industry professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Build mobile features to support video creation and AI effects on the TikTok platform.
- Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver a high-quality user experience.
- Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability of mobile features for a large user base.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or master’s program in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Available to work for 12 weeks in Summer 2027.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passionate about TikTok, augmented reality, as well as creating the most fun, original and creative ideas and experiences.
Internship Details
- Hourly rate range: $45 - $45
- Benefits: Day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits.
- Paid time off: 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year).
- Housing allowance: May be available for interns not working 100% remotely.
