Design Engineer

About the Role

ZF CVCS (Commercial Vehicle Control Systems) is seeking a full-time Design Engineer to work on-site in Chennai. This role contributes to the design and development of components and systems for commercial vehicles, focusing on innovative solutions that improve vehicle efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and refine mechanical and product designs.
• Prepare detailed CAD models and drawings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and cost targets.
• Review specifications and conduct design calculations.
• Support prototype builds and participate in design reviews.
• Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and testing teams to resolve engineering issues.
• Optimize designs for production and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Document design changes and adhere to engineering standards.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling, detailing, and engineering documentation.
• Strong foundation in Design Engineering and Product Design.
• Proficiency in Mechanical Engineering principles, including materials, mechanics, and thermal considerations relevant to commercial vehicle systems.
• Understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts as they relate to integrated mechanical–electrical systems in vehicle applications.
• Ability to work on-site in Chennai.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and support shop-floor and testing activities.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience in the commercial vehicle or automotive industry is an advantage.
