Founder Relations Associate
Pairs
About the Role
Pairs is a global network of family offices, institutional investors, VCs, and angels. We screen deal flow tightly, and opportunities that clear our diligence go out to the network. We invest alongside them.
The Role
As the first point of contact for founders at Pairs, you will help identify and engage with suitable founders. Your primary responsibility is to understand the founder's current situation, their fundraising needs, existing interest, and any roadblocks. Based on this, you will determine if Pairs is the right fit and guide them through the process, or inform them if it's not the right time. You will also manage the demo and close for founders who are a better fit for the platform tier. This role involves direct collaboration with the two co-founders and the closing team, offering insight into the company's screening and investment processes.
What You Will Own
- First conversations with founders, ensuring they are well-informed about their raise.
- Capturing clear and concise information on the founder's round, traction, runway, investor interest, and blockers for the team.
- Scheduling the next steps with founders, providing necessary context.
- Nurturing relationships with founders who are not yet ready to engage with Pairs.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- AI tools: Daily use with sound judgment on their application and impact on quality.
Qualifications
- Experience working closely with founders in roles such as at an accelerator, VC platform team, startup, or a founder-facing commercial role.
- Proven ability to convert conversations into commitments, with the capacity to describe past successes, especially with hesitant founders.
- Understanding of the fundraising process, including stage, round structure, lead investors, and reasons for investor declines.
- A strong commitment to setting realistic expectations and a preference for losing a deal over overselling.
- Ability to quickly build trust with founders from diverse global markets and backgrounds.
