About the Role
Join Banner Health at Banner University Medical Center - Tucson, Environmental Services department, a fast-paced work environment. We are seeking an EVS Associate to help provide a clean, sanitize, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role is an important part of the overall patient experience, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment by following proper infection control and safety procedures.
Location
- Banner - University Medical Center - 1625 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson, Arizona
Schedule
- Full Time - Day Shift
- 7am to 3:30pm
- Weekends rotations and Holidays are required
- Weekend shift differential: $1/hour flat rate
- Night shift differential: 18% when applicable
Training Schedule
- 1st Week: Monday-Friday: 8AM – 4:30PM
- 2nd Week: Monday-Friday 7AM – 3:30PM
- Includes attending NEO on a Monday Morning.
- Both BUMCT & BUMCS train together – location TBD by EVS Educator.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures.
- Plans the completion of these tasks daily.
- Empties hampers and transports soiled linen.
- Empties trash containers and removes all trash.
- Empties all medical waste containers, including sharps.
- Inventories, restocks, and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in all assigned areas.
- Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary.
- Protects equipment from damage by proper use; properly logs out and in equipment that has been used.
- May perform special projects such as windows washing, wall washing, and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings.
- Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors.
- Meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction.
- Performs all cleaning of patient rooms and/or assigned areas.
- Works as a member of the environmental service team to ensure the safety, health, and high morale of patients, visitors, and staff by helping to provide a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment with minimal interference to others.
- Ensures that proper infection control and safety procedures are followed.
- Required to terminally clean the operating rooms.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision.
- Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally.
- Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers.
Qualifications
- $1000 sign-on bonus
- Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques is preferred.
- Additional Related Education and/or Experience is preferred.
- Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
- Employees working at Olive Branch Senior Center must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
