About the Role
The Database Engineer I role involves assisting in the establishment and maintenance of database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance for various database deliverables. This includes supporting the operation of software environments, incident response, and problem-solving to meet the IT needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the establishment and maintenance of database management systems, standards, and guidelines.
- Contribute to the conceptual design and logical database development.
- Participate in capacity planning and external data interface specification.
- Develop and implement data loading and maintenance plans.
- Ensure that database security policies are followed and maintained.
- Assist in configuring and upgrading software.
- Support the operation of software environments, including incident response and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with team members to meet the IT needs of the business.
- Perform routine database maintenance and optimization tasks.
- Document database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Basic understanding of IT systems, software configuration, CI/CD, and business processes.
- Familiarity with software environments and upgrades.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
- Typically entry-level position with 0 - 2 years of experience.
- Certification varies by business system.
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus, not a requirement)
- Experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
- Knowledge of database design principles and best practices.
- Understanding of data security and privacy regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
