2027 Summer Undergraduate Mentored Research

About the Program

• The Summer Undergraduate Mentored Research Program (SUMR) is a full-time, paid summer internship.
• Presented by the Wharton School’s Health Care Management Department and Penn LDI at the University of Pennsylvania.
• Introduces promising undergraduates to health services research.
• Aims to promote students to conduct research in graduate programs.
• Focus areas include health economics, health care management, health policy, population health, and clinical epidemiology.
• Duration: 12 weeks.
• Start Date: June 1, 2027.
• End Date: August 20, 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on paid research projects with Penn faculty mentors.
• Hear about graduate school opportunities.
• Participate in a 6-month online GRE prep program.
• Attend a week-long orientation and 30 seminars with Penn faculty.
• Attend an academic conference.
• Participate in an 8-week critical writing program.
• Present research at the End of SUMR Symposium.
