Costa Mesa, California, United States1d agovia Greenhouse

About the Job

Anduril is seeking an Integration and Test Engineer with a strong software focus to join the Maneuver Dominance team at our Costa Mesa HQ to help develop and scale our Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) capabilities. This role will focus on the software infrastructure, test framework, automation, and tooling required to bring up and operate complex HITL systems. You will work at the intersection of simulation, hardware integration, and system-level testing to enable reliable and repeatable testing on physical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the test framework and software infrastructure that bridges our Software-In-The-Loop (SITL) testing to Hardware-In-The-Loop testing, enabling a seamless testing experience across both environments
  • Develop logging infrastructure and log-processing tooling to capture, organize, correlate, and analyze system behavior during HITL testing
  • Develop diagnostics and telemetry debug capabilities that provide visibility into system state and enable efficient troubleshooting of integration and test failures
  • Develop fault-injection capabilities that enable controlled failures and degraded conditions to be introduced and evaluated during testing
  • Build automated tests to evaluate system behavior, fault detection, handling, recovery, and graceful degradation
  • Develop configuration management tracking tools to maintain consistent and reproducible HITL configurations
  • Automate HITL health checks, setup, configuration, deployment, and test execution to reduce manual effort and improve repeatability
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for regression testing
  • Establish software and testing best practices that enable HITL systems to be used as a reliable part of the development and integration lifecycle
  • Support the physical stand-up, configuration, and maintenance of open-loop and closed-loop HITLs, and the integration of hardware, compute, networking, sensors, and other components required for HITL testing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve real-time simulation issues during HITL operations, including timing constraints, hardware interface problems, and model fidelity discrepancies
  • Work closely with software, systems, simulation, and hardware engineers to identify and resolve integration and test issues
  • Act with a strong safety mindset (“Stop, Think, Do”) while operating in prototype and experimental environments with the aim of eliminating potential harm to team members.
  • Follow established procedures and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and efficiency

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or similar) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautics Engineering, or similar
  • Ability to take ownership of software infrastructure from development through deployment, testing, and maintenance.
  • Experience developing automated test frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management processes, and test tooling such as logging, diagnostics, and debug utilities
  • Strong proficiency in Python and C++
  • Experience with Github
  • Experience developing, operating, and maintaining software frameworks for HIL/HITL/Ironbird/System Support Equipment for a Group 4 or Group 5 UAS, aerospace, or defense vehicle integration and test environment
  • Understanding of software/hardware interfaces, networking, and electrical bus protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, MIL-STD-1553)
  • Strong debugging skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues across software and hardware boundaries
  • Prior hands-on experience working with and troubleshooting electrical systems, harnesses, LRUs, and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience using diagnostic and protocol analysis tools such as Saleae Logic Analyzers, Wireshark, PEAK-System CAN interfaces, or similar tools
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly in a fast-paced development environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance in United States, United Kingdom, or Australia desirable

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and engineering documentation
  • Experience performing LRU-, subsystem-, and system-level hardware integration and bring-up
  • Prior experience with oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, and other electrical test equipment
  • Familiarity with Nix
