SLB
This position can occur in Process, Production, or Technology.
Manufacturing Engineer – Process
- Design and develop new and improved manufacturing techniques, processes, and procedures.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes and techniques using LEAN.
- Develop standards and establish implementation plans, including training plans for shop floor personnel and production metrics.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing Technology to ensure processes are created for new products and that return-on-experience is captured for existing processes.
Manufacturing Engineer – Production
- Perform the lead role in the implementation of manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Implement LEAN and use of Six Sigma tools.
- Own respective manufacturing processes and standards; enforce implementation through training, metrics, and oversight.
- Solve complex manufacturing problems and troubleshoot quality and production yield issues.
- Lean Six Sigma: Implement key elements such as standardized work instructions, line balancing, layout and work sequence optimization, training development matrix, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen/5S workouts, pull processes, TPM, cell design, and quick changeover/batch-size optimization.
- Processes:
- Implement process improvements to achieve manufacturing excellence in areas such as process yield (e.g., First Pass Yield, Rolled Throughput Yield), cycle time reduction, and productivity.
- Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering and DFMs (e.g., through Engineering Change Requests - ECRs).
- Review and sign-off on Engineering Change Orders that impact inventory, including product life cycle issues and obsolescence.
- Create, implement, and monitor key performance indicators and metrics on manufacturing process capability and product quality.
- Monitor and reduce process costs.
- Quality: Assist with investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation for manufacturing quality issues.
Manufacturing Engineer – Technology
- Find, investigate, and/or create new, next-generation, innovative, and cost-effective technology solutions for manufacturing existing and new products.
- Create and develop a manufacturing technology roadmap for new and existing product technologies.
- Take processes from concept phase to successful implementation for new technologies.
- Lean Six Sigma: Ensure new processes are established using Lean concepts such as standardized work instructions, line balancing, layout and work sequence optimization, training development matrix, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen/5S workouts, pull processes, TPM, cell design, and quick changeover/batch-size optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement projects on manufacturing processes.
- Processes:
- Evaluate and benchmark best-in-class manufacturing techniques for Schlumberger and OEM products.
- Establish pilot testing and scale-up plans for manufacturing technology implementation.
- Work with Manufacturing and Engineering Métiers and other stakeholders during prove-out testing of processes.
- Support the Manufacturing Engineer (DFM) on specific technology issues/constraints for NPD and RR projects.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Métiers and other resources across the company to share and leverage best practices.
