About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Strategy, Innovation & Planning (SIP) team, you will help design, build, and scale next-generation AI applications that solve complex business problems. You will work in a highly collaborative, agile environment with a startup mindset—focused on rapid experimentation, continuous learning, and hands-on engineering. This role is designed for a creative technologist who views AI tools (like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or LLM APIs) or Agentic Frameworks (Microsoft Copilot Studio, AgentCore/Strands, LangGraph etc.) as fundamental to their workflow, enabling them to contribute directly to the future of AI at Invesco.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with data scientists, data engineers, and investment professionals to build innovative AI-based tools using structured and alternate data sources.
  • Rapidly prototyping new and innovative solutions alongside experienced developers, using AI-assisted coding to accelerate the "idea-to-MVP" cycle.
  • Developing and refining Invesco’s Generative AI platform by creating system prompts, implementing agentic workflows and LLM-integrated features.
  • Coding and delivering cloud-native microservices and micro-UI components that integrate seamlessly with AI orchestration layers.
  • Building validations, evaluations and guardrails on selected agent frameworks for custom agents built for various business use cases.
  • Applying "AI-first" engineering principles to find creative solutions to the unique architectural challenges encountered when scaling agentic systems.
  • Working at speed to show measurable value per sprint, maintaining high code quality through modern automation and testing.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Python (for AI/Backend)
  • TypeScript / React (for Frontend)
  • AI coding assistants and LLMs
  • LangGraph, LangChain
  • Docker
  • Git version control
  • Basic cloud concepts (AWS or Azure)

Qualifications

  • Creative Problem Solver: 0–2 years of experience with a portfolio of projects (professional or personal) that demonstrate an ability to build functional, creative web applications.
  • Modern Tech Stack: Foundational proficiency in Python and TypeScript/React.
  • AI Native Workflow: High level of comfort using AI coding assistants and LLMs to debug, document, and write boilerplate code efficiently.
  • Architectural Curiosity: Exposure to (or a strong desire to learn) LangGraph, LangChain, and agentic design patterns.
  • Cloud & DevOps Foundations: Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker), Git version control, and basic cloud concepts (AWS or Azure).
  • Agile Mindset: A proactive learner who thrives in a fast-paced, value-driven environment and is comfortable experimenting with emerging technologies.
