Frontend Developer Intern

About the Role

Purple Business is seeking a passionate, proactive, and technically curious Frontend Developer Intern to join their engineering team. This internship focuses on building intuitive, responsive, and high-performance user experiences for an AI-powered business growth platform. You will collaborate with UI/UX designers, backend engineers, AI engineers, and technical leads.

Key Responsibilities

• Frontend Development
• Develop responsive, interactive, and visually polished web interfaces using modern frontend technologies.
• Convert Figma designs into functional, pixel-accurate frontend implementations.
• Build reusable components, layouts, navigation systems, forms, and interactive UI elements.
• Implement smooth animations, transitions, micro-interactions, and engaging user experiences.
• Ensure consistent styling, responsive behavior, and design quality across different devices and screen sizes.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-structured frontend code.
• Website & Product Development
• Contribute to the development and improvement of Purple Business's website, landing pages, and web-based product interfaces.
• Build interactive sections, business dashboards, onboarding experiences, and other product components.
• Develop engaging product demonstrations and AI-powered interface experiences.
• Collaborate with designers to implement new features and improve existing user journeys.
• Optimize website performance, loading speed, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness.
• Support website conversion optimization through improved forms, calls to action, and user experience.
• Backend & AI Integration
• Collaborate with backend developers to integrate REST APIs and other application services.
• Connect frontend interfaces with business data, authentication systems, and relevant backend functionality.
• Work with AI engineers to integrate AI-powered features into user-facing experiences.
• Build interfaces for AI chat, recommendations, generated content, automation controls, and interactive workflows.
• Implement appropriate loading states, error handling, notifications, and user feedback mechanisms.
• Ensure smooth communication between frontend components and backend services.
• UI/UX Collaboration & Product Quality
• Work closely with the UI/UX design team to understand product requirements and visual specifications.
• Participate in discussions around usability, component behavior, interaction patterns, and user experience improvements.
• Suggest improvements to interface design based on technical feasibility and frontend best practices.
• Maintain visual consistency through reusable components and design systems.
• Test frontend functionality across common browsers, devices, and screen sizes.
• Identify and fix UI bugs, layout inconsistencies, and performance issues.
• Engineering Collaboration & Task Management
• Collaborate with frontend developers, backend engineers, AI engineers, QA testers, and project managers.
• Work with the project management team to organize and track development tasks using Trello or similar tools.
• Break assigned features into smaller development tasks with clear deliverables.
• Regularly communicate development progress, challenges, dependencies, and blockers.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and mutually scheduled engineering meetings.
• Use Git and GitHub for version control, collaboration, and code management.
• AI-Assisted Development & Engineering Productivity
• Explore AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, and other approved coding assistants.
• Use AI tools responsibly to accelerate development, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Experiment with modern frontend libraries, frameworks, and implementation techniques.
• Review and validate AI-generated code before integrating it into the codebase.
• Identify opportunities to improve development efficiency, frontend architecture, and reusable components.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Good understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with React.js and modern component-based frontend development.
• Basic understanding of responsive design and mobile-first development.
• Ability to translate Figma designs into working interfaces.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and frontend-backend integration.
• Basic knowledge of Git and GitHub.
• Understanding of frontend debugging and browser developer tools.
• Strong attention to detail and interest in building polished user experiences.
• Willingness to learn, experiment, and collaborate with a technical team.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
• Familiarity with component libraries and modern frontend UI frameworks.
• Understanding of web performance optimization, SEO, and accessibility.
• Experience building dashboards, SaaS interfaces, or AI-powered applications.
• Familiarity with frontend testing tools.
• Basic understanding of authentication, state management, and API integration.
• Exposure to Flutter or mobile application development.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.

Prior professional experience is not mandatory. Personal projects, GitHub repositories, hackathon projects, and demonstrable frontend development skills will be considered.

Internship Compensation & Future Opportunities

This is an unpaid internship. No fixed monthly stipend or salary is currently offered. Opportunities may arise to transition into paid internships or full-time frontend engineering positions based on performance, company growth, and mutual agreement. Any legally required compensation will be provided.
