Software Engineer, Backend

About the Role

Robinhood is building an elite team applying frontier technologies to the world’s biggest financial problems. The Core Financial Products Engineering team’s mission is to build secure, scalable systems that power Robinhood’s key financial offerings and help democratize finance. As a Software Engineer, you will help design, build, and maintain backend infrastructure and services critical to financial products. This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA and New York, NY offices, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and release backend systems with high correctness, reliability, and scalability requirements.
• Own and maintain key services that power our financial product ecosystem.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering and business challenges.
• Interface with external financial institutions to integrate services and expand capabilities.
• Contribute to shaping engineering best practices and improving developer workflows.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Proficiency with Python/Django or Go (or similar backend technologies).
• Solid understanding of relational databases and transaction-safe design.
• Computer science fundamentals and a problem-solving mindset.
• Curiosity and interest in financial systems or a strong desire to learn.

Qualifications

• 6 Months - 2 Years of hands-on software engineering experience through previous roles.
